Every day, President Claudia Sheinbaum gives a morning presidential press conference and Mexico Solidarity Media posts English language summaries, translated by Mexico Solidarity’s Pedro Gellert Frank. Previous press conference summaries are available here.
Financial Blow Against Money Laundering in Physical and Digital Casinos
The Security Cabinet and the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) seized 13 casinos and digital platforms in eight states linked to money laundering. Irregular operations, transnational movements, and identity theft were detected to simulate “million-dollar winnings” and return the money as legally obtained.
President Claudia Sheinbaum announced a reform to tighten the regulation of casinos, especially digital casinos, to prevent their use by financial crime.
Metallic Fences in the Zócalo: Protecting Property and Preventing Provocations
Sheinbaum clarified that the metallic fences in the Zócalo are a preventive measure, given the intention of a group of dissident teachers from the CNTE to blockade the area and the risk of infiltration by violent elements. The metallic fences are not to prevent the protest. They are to protect lives and avoid provocations.
The President showed a video where business magnate and opposition leader Claudio X. González called for the suppression of teachers during the 2013 Education Reform; days later, the Nochixtlán crackdown occurred. Sheinbaum noted the contrast: “They responded with repression. We consult. We are not the same.”
Presidential Recall Referendum in 2027: The People’s Decision, Not an Electoral Ploy
Sheinbaum rejected the claim that moving the presidential recall referendum vote to 2027 favors Morena. She said the recall referendum is already in the Constitution and is an achievement of the people. The President further explained that holding the referendum alongside the midterm elections saves billions of pesos by using the same electoral structure.
“The recall referendum exists so the people can decide, not to benefit anyone.”
Mexico, Leader in Government Trust According to the OECD
It was reported that the OECD ranked Mexico as the country where the population has the highest degree of trust in its government, with 53.6% of those polled expressing confidence in public institutions. Sheinbaum concluded that “for the detractors… there you have it….”
Formal Employment Breaks Historical Record, with 22.7 Million Workers Registered with the IMSS
The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) chart was presented, confirming a historical record in formal employment, with almost 22.79 million jobs registered in October 2025. In October alone, 217,491 jobs were created, and over the past year, 170,231.
Job Numbers in Different Presidential Administrations:
• Calderón: 13.9 million• Peña Nieto: 16.2 million• López Obrador: 20.4 million• Sheinbaum: 22.7 million (record high)
“For the good of all, the poor come first” — the economic model based on well-being, increases in the minimum wage, and investment allows for growth with stability, despite tariffs and international uncertainty.
Sheinbaum: Opposition’s Hypocrisy in regard to Social Programs
The President pointed out the contradiction between criticizing the government and benefiting from it, after it was revealed that Grupo Salinas received 4,280 scholarships from the “Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro” program while its owner calls government workers “parasites.”
She stated that the debate is clear: two national projects — one of privileges for a few, and the Fourth Transformation (4T) project that allocates resources to the people.
Sheinbaum Responds to Fox: “There Is No Love Shown for Mexico When Violence Is Welcomed”
Sheinbaum described Vicente Fox’s statement on the killing of Uruapan mayor Carlos Manzo as inhuman. She said that such messages show indifference towards the victims and only seek to regain lost privileges.
The President reiterated that her government supports those who contribute to the country, not those who exploited the State.
Lie Detector: Government Debunks Lies About the 2026 Budget
The Government clarified that false accounts are circulating about the 2026 Budget and alleged censorship. The morning press conference exposed the following items as fake news:
• It is not true that the health budget will be cut.• It is not true that the security budget will be reduced.• It is not true that the education budget is being cut.• It is not true that the Mexican government censors the media or seeks to censor the Church.• It is not true that the United States is intervening in Mexico.
