The Coca-Cola Christmas Caravan, which after an absence of several years, was scheduled to travel the streets of Villahermosa again on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, will not take place, as announced in an official statement on its social media by the Tabasco Tourism Secretariat.

According to the document, the cancellation comes after the organization called El Poder del Consumidor (The Power of the Consumer) requested precautionary measures from the Federal Commission for Protection against Sanitary Risks (COFEPRIS) because this event violates the regulations of the General Health Law regarding Advertising, since it promotes the consumption of soft drinks, beverages with high sugar content, among minors.

The statement indicates that “the Government of the State of Tabasco, through the Ministry of Tourism and Economic Development, informs that, in response to a recommendation from the federal health authority, the “Coca-Cola Caravan” scheduled to take place in the state, will not be held.

“The Tabasco government seeks to carry out all cultural and recreational activities in strict compliance with current regulations.”

The agency reiterated its invitation to the public to participate in the Christmas Caravan organized by the state government, in which schools, organizations and different sectors of the community participate, an event that seeks to promote healthy coexistence among Tabasco families during this season.

He also extended an invitation “to all Tabasco families to enjoy the Christmas Expo The Magic of Eden, which will take place from December 13 to 20 at Tabasco Park ‘Dora María.’ This space will feature a free ice rink, nativity scene contests, Christmas plays and carols, as well as activities and attractions designed to experience the Christmas spirit in a family-friendly atmosphere.”

According to the complaint filed by the organization El Poder del Consumidor with Cofepris, Coca-Cola Caravans should be suspended in our country “because they are the most perverse, persuasive, powerful and aggressive advertising strategy directed at children, taking advantage of their vulnerability and inexperience, violating their right to health and violating the best interests of the child.”

“The Coca-Cola Caravans are presented in Mexico as a Christmas spectacle with parades of illuminated trucks, music, shows, games and endearing characters that travel through the streets of the main cities of the country showing its logo, brand and products.”

“At first glance, it looks like a Christmas parade that brings families together; however, behind this facade, a penetrating, aggressive, and well-orchestrated advertising strategy unfolds, appropriating and capturing the holiday to achieve greater consumption of its products, especially among children and adolescents,” the complaint states.”
