    I wonder if he had the rabies vaccine previously if he would have kept him from dying. Its improved since what it was like long ago and I sorta think we should make it more generally available as a preventative. Its an aweful disease.

    This is really sad. The guy gets a new kidney, expecting he’ll now have extra years and a new future, only to die from rabies because of the transplant. The article says they typically do not test organs for rabies because the risk is low. This is the 10th case in the U.S. since 1978.
