We had capitalism when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s, and guess what? This shit wasn’t allowed. I’ve commented before, companies didn’t even try to pull this bullshit because there was 0% chance of getting past the FTC.
For the 100th time, this is not capitalism. This is oligarchy (maybe plutocracy? either way). Adam Smith loathed the idea of monopolies and said they were poison.
Meanwhile, over in lemminggrad.
Y’all sound like Boomers pointing to the Soviet Union as evidence socialism doesn’t work because it devolved into oligarchy. And then you reply, “But that wasn’t socialism!” NOW do you get me?
Oh we are well well past that.
It’s a bit much to call David Ellison CEO when his dad literally has the power to overturn anything David does he disagrees with.
Larry Ellison owns and runs Paramount and David just gets to play boss and keep the lights on.
Brings to mind the Trump fraud trial where him and his sons all pretended like he wasn’t actually in charge, because suddenly the person in charge was facing consequences.
versus just regular crony capitalism 🙄
If we just had socialism there wouldn’t be any cronyism! Cronies are taken out and shot behind the courthouse when socialists are running the place!
It’s crony capitalism all the way down
Nothing crony about it. Corporations would have done this 100 years ago if they could. This was always the end game of capitalism when left to it’s own devices
It’s the end game of ANY economic system when left to its own devices. It’s up to the government to curb abuses and if a democratically elected government like the US can’t or won’t stop it, we deserve to fail.
Just regular capitalism they is no reality where capitalism doesn’t function like this.
Name a system where this doesn’t happen. Take all the time you need.
Keep killing US soft power. Maybe get involved in American social media and make that increasingly unusable with age bans and nonstop ads
It’s capitalism all the way around and it’s always the goal to do crony capitalism.
