Holy shit, do you just not fucking read or think for yourself? You’re once again talking out of your ass about things you clearly don’t know enough about to give an opinion or speak about. AND ONCE AGAIN THE REBUTTAL TO YOUR BULLSHIT IS IN THE FUCKING ARTICLE. JESUS. FUCKING. CHRIST. And of course you move the goalpost from “no indication of resistance at all” to “other than resigning”. Which, once again, you would know is a ridiculous thing to say if you had read the fucking article. In addition to what’s in the article, and off the top of my head, there was the air force kid that literally set himself on fire in protest of Israeli genocide, the Marine in his dress blues standing at parade rest protesting police brutality for so long his fucking shoes melted, the numerous PUBLIC letters from current and former military officers to federal elected officials warning of the degradation of us democracy in light of trump policies, and there are many others I’ll probably remember later also without looking them up. The secondary point I’m trying to make is that you’re just factually incorrect and demonstrate a poor/incorrect understanding of how these political issues actually function and play out.

My Primary point is that in addition to your argument just being wrong, it’s fucking dangerous and irresponsible. The military is full of people. People that would be beneficial to good-faith liberation movements in the event of a complete fascist takeover. These are the same people that come from a disengaged and apathetic civilian population, many of which “don’t care for politics” and would be resistant to a people that would vapidly paint the entirety of the US military with one stroke. Your dumbshit ‘us military bad’ only serves to further divide the working class and perpetuate useless political campaigns with toddler-style black and white thinking. The US military is just a tool that isn’t inherently good or bad, but can be used as a vehicle for evil that even manufacturers great suffering of the people that make it up. It can even be used for good, funding renewable energy research, aiding in natural disasters the world round, or even environmental cleanup. The US military isn’t a fucking monolith. Once again, if you don’t know what you’re talking about, shut the fuck up.

And for meta-context, these comments aren’t necessarily for the person I’m directly replying to as I’m well aware it’s practically impossible to change their mind, especially considering the lack of honest engagement. This is “for those who come after” so to speak. To recognize the danger of division, dishonest engagement, and flippant remarks on a contentious/complex topic. It’s important to swiftly and aggressively confront these dangers in our circles to ensure that there is no ambiguity in how truly unacceptable they are. It’s also important to point out that my language is consistently attacking their views and arguments and not the person themselves. I looked at their post history to ensure they’re not some dickhead troll(they are not), and I think they’re someone I could see myself being friends with. The dangers of dishonesty are a great example of the need for confrontation and conflict in any context of a relationship. And as a final point, dishonesty usually isn’t done consciously or intentionally. There’s always more to it than what’s on the surface.
