Daily Dose of Perspective

The image below shows the Andromeda Galaxy, the nearest complete spiral galaxy to the Milky Way (our home). The Andromeda Galaxy is located 2.5 million light-years from Earth, and the photo was taken from my backyard in Los Angeles.

Because the Earth is located within the Milky Way Galaxy, we cannot take a photo showing the spiral arms and dense core as in the image of the Andromeda Galaxy, below. To make up for the absence of a photo of the Milky Way, I offer the Galaxy Song from Monty Python—which is both informative and funny (with a special guest appearance by Stephen Hawking).
