While US President Donald Trump was bragging about bringing a purported peace to the world by allegedly stopping eight wars, including Israel’s genocidal aggression on Gaza, the Israeli war machine continued massacring Palestinians in the war-torn enclave.
At least 11 Palestinians, including three children and three photojournalists, were killed in a new wave of assaults carried out by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in different parts of the besieged Gaza strip on Wednesday, January 21.
According to medical sources, a 13-year-old boy, his father and another young man were killed after being targeted by an Israeli drone in Gaza’s central Bureij refugee camp.
Another child (also 13) was shot dead by the IOF while he was collecting firewood in the eastern town of Bani Suheila.
Meanwhile, a young woman was killed in Israeli gunfire in the vicinity of the southern city of Khan Younis.
A source from Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital also reported the killing of three people, including one child, in an Israeli artillery shelling on the central city of Deir al-Balah.
The slain photojournalists died after an Israeli drone struck their vehicle near the Netzarim Corridor south of Gaza city. Media reports said that the journalists, identified as Anas Ghunaim, Abdul Ra’ouf Shaath and Mohammad Qeshta, were assassinated while covering developments on the ground in the area.
CPJ calls for investigation into the targeted assassination of the three photojournalists
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) issued a statement on Wednesday, condemning the murder of the three photojournalists, and calling for a transparent investigation into the crime.
CPJ accused Israel of intentionally targeting the deceased journalists, who were traveling in a clearly marked jeep. “Israel, which possesses advanced technology capable of identifying its targets, has an obligation under international law to protect journalists,” the committee warned.
Israel killed 263 Palestinian media professionals in Gaza since October 7, 2023
According to a report issued by the United Nations in December 2025, the number of Palestinian media professionals killed by Israel since the beginning of its genocide in Gaza on October 7, 2023, reached 260. Following the assassination of Ghunaim, Shaath and Qesta on Wednesday, the death toll is expected to have jumped to 263.
