For those of us that were paying attention, executive power has been growing since the start of the country. Just definitionally it’s hard not to call the last several presidents authoritarians, you just don’t notice when it’s your guy, or when it’s been creeping since the start. Certainly some tried to be restrained, but when you can solve things with a shortcut, most presidents in my lifetime have abused their authority.
What a strange thought. Grandpa Biden had a regime; “Sleepy Joe” was a dictator.
I don’t know where half these ideas come from, where the most milquetoasty president since Carter is now an emperor.
