Haha, it does seem extraneous at best.
The guys that consistently lose because they seem too close to the repubelicans, without offering any solutions, want to win elections by grand standing the supposed middle (= we like war and genocide but more strategic?).
This is Demonratspeak for “we are comfortable in silent opposition, Repubs can have the next one as well”. Which is not surprising as they comfortably line their pockets with workers money.
