Hi, all, and happy Thursday.

Welp. There’s a lot going on, as always. Like, a super lot.

Since I didn’t do a newsletter yesterday I’ll start by saying that we had a wild and mostly great election day on Tuesday. The blatant voter suppression in Dallas was, of course, the big exception. That was disgraceful, and I hope Jasmine Crockett doesn’t drop her lawsuit just because she conceded. The fact that there weren’t enough votes between 7 and 9 PM to make the difference in her race is beside the point. Every vote must be counted. Black voters were targeted specifically by this malfeasance. It’s deeply rotten.

In better news, progressives ousted three terrible Democrats in primary races in North Carolina, including one who joined Republicans and voted to force state law enforcement to collaborate with ICE. Good riddance! We also flipped a statehouse seat in Arkansas—a state Trump won by double digits! Democrats have now flipped 9 state legislative seats since Trump took office. Republicans have flipped zero!

And James Talarico won the primary! Incredible! To be clear, I liked both candidates enormously! I would have celebrated a Crockett win just as heartily. But the fact is Talarico did win, by a decent margin, and it’s our job to unite behind him. He’s a great candidate with a real shot at flipping this seat. That’s exciting!

In less positive news, Trump’s “peace president” promise is dead, and we’re paying for it at the pump. The national average gas price hit $3.11/gallon Tuesday — the biggest single-day spike since March 2022. Analysts warn it could hit $3.50 in coming weeks. That will mean not just higher prices at the pump, but at the grocery store, the hardware store, and everywhere else. It’s bad.

And speaking of bad, Senate Republicans voted to keep Trump’s war going with no guardrails of any kind. The only Republican to support the War Powers Resolution was Rand Paul. The only Democrat to vote against it was de facto Republican John Fetterman. The focus now moves to the House, where a War Powers vote will happen today. Although we know this vote is symbolic it’s hugely important, so please be sure you call your House rep before it happens if possible.

[Actually, I’m going to stop writing and do that right now…please hold…]

Ha! It’s a good thing I called! After talking about the War Powers vote I went on to the second part of my script, which was about impeaching Kristi Noem. I was then informed by my Congressman’s staffer that she’s just been fired! Good. Her replacement, Mark Wayne Mullin, will be awful also, but she was a special kind of abhorrent. It’s also just good to know Trump was embarrassed enough by Noem’s behavior that even he knew she had to go.

I’ll stop here. All of the above is the tip of the iceberg, of course. There’s a ton more going on, but at some point acting on the news is more important than just recapping it endlessly. Suffice it to say that we’re in a maelstrom of insanity and abuse, and there’s no way out but through.

So with no further ado let’s go take some actions—it’s the only way we survive, the only way we thrive, and, most importantly, the only way we win.

A Special Event Tonight for SoCal Folks

I’ll be speaking in person to the Foothill Community Dems tonight at 7PM and anyone is welcome to attend (if they RSVP.) It would be lovely to meet some of you in person, so if you’re in the San Gabriel Valley area of Southern California come on by!

Call Your Senators (find yours here) 📲

Hi, I’m a constituent calling from [zip]. My name is ______.

[If your Senator is Rand Paul or any Democrat except for Fetterman say:] I’m calling to thank the Senator for voting for the War Powers Resolution yesterday. I’m furious and disgusted that it didn’t pass. I’m also furious that Trump is about to ask for a 50 billion dollar emergency funding bill for his illegal war. Please tell the Senator to vote no. If Congress writes Trump a blank check for an unauthorized war then we’ll have a monarchy, not a democracy. No thanks.

[If your Senator is Fetterman or any Republican but Rand Paul say:] I’m calling to say that I’m furious that the Senator voted against the War Powers Resolution yesterday. I’m disgusted that it didn’t pass. If Trump can start a war any time he wants with no authorization then we have a monarchy, not a democracy. The Senator should resign, because s/he clearly doesn’t want to do his/her job.

[To all Senators:] Also please ask the Senator to oppose the confirmation of Steve Pearce as Director of the Bureau of Land Management. His ties to the oil and gas industry and his desire to sell off our public lands for profit would makes him a disaster. Vote no!

Call Your House Rep (find yours here) 📲

Hi, I’m a constituent calling from [zip]. My name is _______.

First, I’m really upset that the War Powers resolution failed in the Senate. The lawmakers who opposed it have abdicated their responsibility to their constituents, our servicemembers, and the Constitution. If Trump can start a war any time he wants with no authorization then we have a monarchy, not a democracy. Vote YES on the Massey-Khanna War Powers Resolution, please.

Also I’m outraged by the abuses revealed in the released Epstein files along with the DOJ’s ongoing protection of perpetrators, including Trump. I want the Congressmember to call for the resignations of Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, and Todd Blanche. I also want him/her to support articles of impeachment against Donald Trump. Thanks. [H/T]

Per The Drey Report, this week while everyone was distracted – rightly – by our attack on Iran, Oracle received authorization to run AI on federal government data at the highest security levels. This was days after Oracle was given authorization to process government-held data including the medical records of over 150 million Americans. Meanwhile the son of Oracle’s owner/founder just closed the Paramount/WB deal. Lotta reach for one family. Drey argues that in January when the gov’t gave Oracle “security control” over the domestic part of Tik Tok (the tentacles reach everywhere), it required an oversight board, audits, source code inspections etc. This new merger will reach just as many people, and include way more first party data – but this time with NO government oversight. Drey thinks – and I agree – that congress needs to step in, before this deal is finalized on March 20. She suggests we call our senators, especially the ones who are on the Senate Anti-Trust Committee – which include these Dems:

Sen Cory Booker (NJ) – Ranking Member: (202) 224-3224

Sen. Adam Schiff (California) : (202) 224-3841

Sen Amy Klobuchar (Minn): 202-224-3244

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (Conn): (202) 224-2823

Sen Peter Welch (Vermont): (202) 224-5141

SCRIPT (you can change this to anything you want.)

Hi, I’m a constituent/concerned American calling to urge the Senator to support a formal conflict-of-interest review before the proposed Paramount - WB merger closes. The government must require strong data firewalls and full transparency around Oracle’s role. This isn’t just a Hollywood deal — it affects who controls what information we see, how our sensitive data is used, how much competition exists, and whether conflicts of interest are properly examined. There is too much at stake for this to move forward without serious oversight. The Senator needs to act. Thanks.

Give 💰!

Y’all, can you please help?

My friend Lara Jones told me about a newly released detainee named Adriana whom she met through an online connection. Her story is heartbreaking: while detained, her spouse and children were denied medical care and access to clean water, even though her 5-year-old son suffers from kidney problems.

After being released, Adriana and her family lost everything. They are now living in their car with their two children, trying to start over after two months of detention.

They committed no crime, yet they were locked up and treated with such cruelty. While they are grateful to have been released, they now have to start from scratch. They desperately need to secure a safe place to live with their children so they don’t have to keep sleeping in their car, and obtain health insurance so they can take care of their health and get their youngest boy’s kidneys checked. Any support you can offer will help them rebuild and find hope again.

Give here if you can. I did.

Get in the Streets! 🪧

In just the past week, the Trump wreckage of all-things science, health and democracy in America continues to pile up –

Trump’s dangerously unqualified nominee for surgeon general, Casey Means, told the Senate HELP committee she won’t broadly encourage parents to vaccinate their children against measles, the flu or whooping cough.

RFK’s HHS announced plans to effectively dismantle the OPRE (Office of Planning, Research & Evaluation) the independent office that vets the effectiveness of federal programs for underserved children and families.

Nature magazine and independent NSF tracking both report fresh evidence that Congressionally-mandated science spending is being withheld by Russell Vought, Trump’s politically calculating OMB-director, who continues to deliver on his promise that - “the OMB can provide less funding than what Congress has appropriated.”

US measles cases soared past 1,000 and reached 1,136, putting the US on pace to exceed last year’s 2,281 total by springtime.

These crimes against America cannot stand! I hope you’re planning on joining your local Stand Up For Science Rally on Saturday – a list of the 50+ sites is here.

The stakes just keep getting higher for stopping this administration. Gathering together across the country this Saturday March 7 gives us an extraordinary platform to make our shared rage heard and reckoned with.

And y’all, to clarify, I myself use AI only very rarely, and only for things I absolutely cannot do myself. I largely despise it. So please don’t think I’m endorsing the use of AI when I say to consider Claude instead of Chat GPT. I am simply acknowledging the reality that many people use these tools, and if you’re going to, Claude is definitely the way to go.

Recent reporting raises alarming allegations that some U.S. military commanders have framed current operations involving Iran as fulfillment of Christian end-times prophecy. If true in whole or in part, this represents a direct threat to constitutional governance and demands immediate congressional action. This issue requires urgent attention because:• The Constitution — not religious doctrine — governs U.S. war powers.• Sectarian messaging in military briefings undermines morale, cohesion, and lawful command authority.• Congress has an independent duty to prevent theocratic influence over national security decisions.Military.com (March 3, 2026) reports that the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) received more than 100 complaints — later reported as exceeding 200 — from service members across multiple branches and installations. According to those complaints, certain commanders allegedly described the Iran conflict as “God’s plan,” referenced the Book of Revelation, and characterized military action as connected to “Armageddon” and the return of Jesus Christ.

OK, you did it again! You’re helping to save democracy! You’re amazing.

Talk tomorrow.
