Repeat after me: “owning people is bad.”
That’s all there is to it. The rest is just how much evil you are stacking up on top of the base evil.
- Owning them as farm equipment? Bad
- Owning people for house work? Bad
- Deciding how to breed them and tearing apart their families for profit? Bad
- Bearing them as you see fit? Bad
None of this is good, no matter the post hoc rationalizations nor arguments from your religious texts (see: bible’s Exodus and other passages).
Trying to make slavery seem good in any way means you’re bad for even trying.
But no, it was actually good, see. Song of the South told me they sang songs and loved our children.
