This is so stupid, not everything the majority says is inherently good and that is assuming there are no fake accounts and only Nepali citizens get to ‘vote’. Many times people don’t know what they want, they can be ignorant, they can be privileged and unwilling to give some of it up, it’s the job of the politicians to educate them and sometimes use force.
Would it have been ‘democratic’ if the U.S. held a referendum in the 1950s to outlaw segregation and give equal rights to black people? No, because white people were the majority and the referendum would not have passed. Majoritarianism isn’t democracy.
Eg. Democratic politicians’ failures to inform the dangers of anti-immigration sentiment (and even partly co-opting it) that was fostered by Trump-aligned and corporate media led to mass deportations polling at a majority for a short period, until people saw what it actually entailed.
