We spoke with security officers, law enforcement officials and religion experts and studied criminal case materials and court verdicts in order to understand why the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate became a breeding ground for networks of Russian agents, what Ukraine is doing to combat “collaborators in cassocks”, and why the “pilgrimages” of the Security Service of Ukraine – raids on churches belonging to the Russian Orthodox Church’s branch in Ukraine – do not constitute “persecution of Christians”. We’ll explain this through examples of specific criminal cases.
