SOLi – Solidaridad Internacional de Puerto Rico, an entity of the World Peace Council, expresses its strongest condemnation and repudiation of the recent statements by the governor of Puerto Rico, Jenniffer González-Colón, in which she supports the use of our island as a strategic military platform for the United States and attacks sister countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The governor has praised the increased US military presence in Puerto Rico, describing our territory as “the United States’ frontier in the Caribbean” and justifying militarization under the pretext of fighting drug trafficking. At the same time, she has aligned herself with Washington’s verbal and diplomatic attacks against Latin American nations, contributing to tensions that threaten regional peace.
At SOLi, we firmly affirm: Puerto Rico is not and will not be the spearhead of imperial wars against our sister peoples. Our people have suffered more than a century of military, economic, and political occupation by the United States, and we reject any attempt to use our soil as a base to harass the sovereign and supportive governments of Latin America and the Caribbean.
The militarization of the island—whether through the promotion of civic-military programs among young people or the deployment of troops and warships—does not contribute to the security or well-being of our people. On the contrary, it deepens colonial subordination, exposes Puerto Rico as a target for foreign conflicts, and reinforces the logic of war that threatens the stability of the entire region.
We reaffirm our commitment to peace as the path to sustainable development, integration, and unity in Latin America and the Caribbean. We support the CELAC declarations that reaffirm our region as a zone of peace, and we denounce attempts to destabilize sovereign governments as part of the imperial policy of domination.
We call on the peoples of the Caribbean and all of Latin America to remain vigilant, organized, and united in the face of this militaristic and media offensive. In the face of the war machine and warmongering rhetoric, we oppose the force of popular unity, the sovereignty of our peoples, and the construction of a future of peace, dignity, and social justice.

No A La Militarización De Puerto Rico

SOLi – Solidaridad Internacional de Puerto Rico, entidad del Consejo Mundial por la Paz, expresa su más enérgico repudio y condena a las recientes declaraciones de la gobernadora de Puerto Rico, Jenniffer González-Colón, en las que respalda la utilización de nuestra isla como plataforma militar estratégica de los Estados Unidos y emite ataques contra países hermanos de América Latina y el Caribe.
La gobernadora ha elogiado el aumento de la presencia militar estadounidense en Puerto Rico, describiendo a nuestro territorio como “frontera de Estados Unidos en el Caribe”, y justificando la militarización bajo el pretexto de la lucha contra el narcotráfico. A la vez, se ha alineado con las agresiones verbales y diplomáticas de Washington contra naciones latinoamericanas, contribuyendo a alimentar tensiones que amenazan la paz regional.
Desde SOLi afirmamos con firmeza: Puerto Rico no es ni será punta de lanza de guerras imperiales contra nuestros pueblos hermanos. Nuestro pueblo ha sufrido por más de un siglo la ocupación militar, económica y política de Estados Unidos, y rechazamos que se pretenda utilizar nuestro suelo como base para hostigar a gobiernos soberanos y solidarios de América Latina y el Caribe.
La militarización de la isla —ya sea a través de la promoción de programas cívico-militares en la juventud o del despliegue de tropas y buques de guerra— no contribuye a la seguridad ni al bienestar de nuestro pueblo. Por el contrario, profundiza la subordinación colonial, expone a Puerto Rico como blanco de conflictos ajenos y refuerza la lógica de guerra que amenaza la estabilidad de toda la región.
Reafirmamos nuestro compromiso con la paz como camino para el desarrollo sostenible, la integración y la unidad de América Latina y el Caribe. Respaldamos las declaraciones de la CELAC que reafirman a nuestra región como zona de paz, y denunciamos los intentos de desestabilización contra gobiernos soberanos como parte de la política imperial de dominación.
Hacemos un llamado a los pueblos del Caribe y de toda América Latina a mantenerse vigilantes, organizados y solidarios frente a esta ofensiva militarista y mediática. Frente a la maquinaria de guerra y al discurso belicista, oponemos la fuerza de la unidad popular, la soberanía de nuestros pueblos y la construcción de un futuro de paz, dignidad y justicia social.
¡No a la militarización de Puerto Rico!
¡Sí a la paz en América Latina y el Caribe!
