You can always read the article. The bill had 6 Democratic co-sponsors, who knows how many will vote for it eventually but presumably it’ll be at least those 6. The last time it came to a Senate vote, a majority of Democrats voted to oppose military aid for Israel.

Among the co-sponsors was Chris Van Hollen, the guy who went to El Salvador and directly and personally fought to get Abrego Garcia freed and Bukele said he would never see anything outside of CECOT again. Long story short he’s out now and no Americans are getting shipped there anymore.

Meanwhile a bunch of Lemmy dickheads are out here throwing spitballs and trash whenever the few people in the US government who actually do care about this stuff are working hard to get something done about it.

Any other details I can help clear up for you?

Were you joking? I’ve gotten so accustomed to people on Lemmy reacting to any news about Democrats trying to stop the slaughter in Gaza with “YeAH tHaT’S riGhT DemOcRAtS = GenOciDE as we all know” that I took it 100% seriously.

Sorry if I sound dense but what was the joke? That it would likely be a lot more than 5 Democrats that voted for this ultimately?

Is this some sort of gotcha you’re trying to make to prove dems actually doing something and not just pandering to the base that would have helped them win last election for attention?

This is akin to republicans creating outrageous bills that they know won’t pass but will get their base and extremists riled up.

But yeah that abrego guy tho… Is this a Hollywood community? Can’t wait for “Saving Citizen Abrego”

Bills like these don’t do shit. They’re just showing up to have some sympathetic support from people on the fence pretending they’re trying to “do something”.

It won’t accomplish shit and they’ll sit back after a job well done in their cozy mansions.

Among the co-sponsors was Chris Van Hollen, the guy who went to El Salvador and directly and personally fought to get Abrego Garcia freed and Bukele said he would never see anything outside of CECOT again. Long story short he’s out now and no Americans are getting shipped there anymore.

Also what has this got to do with anything related to the thread. Are you working for their marketing?

You should probably get that politicians dick stuck in your mouth. You’re blabbering.

          Lol

Democrats do nothing: “See, I told you”

Democrats do something performative: “Bills like this don’t do shit”

Democrats try to do something meaningful and fail: “Ratchet theory”

Democrats try to do something meangingful and succeed: “Is this a Hollywood community? Can’t wait for ‘Saving Citizen Abrego’” or “No that didn’t happen I know because (emotionally resonant anecdote)” or “You should probably get that politicians dick stuck in your mouth.”

I’ll be sure to send Bukele a note, saying that you’re out here doing marketing for his allies. I’m sure he appreciates your efforts.

Only about 60 years late on that, its like when you define an area in treaty you should just declare it then. So we are going to observe from the river to the sea correct? Or would you do the same this we did when all this started and give the injured party a bigger share because of the genocide committed against it.

Also I would like to see any money the USA sends to that area now to be split in half for the failings of the law makers to act faster, and for all the weapons sent (in a just world they would just stop sending all that tax payer money to isreal to start).
