    I hate Trump and his regime as much as the next guy, but this is actually a good policy.

    It just goes to show that terrible people sometimes do good things.

      A 100k every year flat rate, no matter the expected income that’s essentially another tax to corporations hiring immigrants.

      It’s telling all US companies “Yeah, that German engineer is better than his American counterparts, but is he 100k per year better?” And the answer is most likely no.

      This will just make US corporations less competitive on the global market in the name of racism.

        Well, the H-1B loophole needed to be closed and that predates Trump by decades. Trump is doing what should have been done by all administrations of all stripes before him.

        But he’s doing it way too late: this’ll make US corporations less competitive in the short run for sure. But don’t think for one second they’ll rush to hire US engineers to replace the foreign wage slaves they can’t exploit anymore: it’ll just make the drive to shove AI everywhere they can all the more intense.
