LOL, no. Only way out is through mass violence and historical economic depression. That’s not my opinion, that’s history.

It doesn’t work that way. Unless whoever gets elected next makes it so that somebody like Trump can NEVER do what he’s been doing again even as a sitting president, history will continue to repeat itself and the next abomination on earth will get elected by the 1% to undo civil liberties that shouldn’t even be argued at this point. It’s insane he’s gotten this far. He’s ignoring the law and he’s also influencing it to get what he wants. I’m willing to bank that no matter what, if society doesn’t collapse and someone actually does get elected, generations will go by and nobody will get rid of the “office of faith”. That’s how pathetic the system is.

If we have a proper election next time and she runs there will be a large, vocal group telling you us why she’s unfit and can’t win.

They’ve already started. There are a lot of people on Lemmy who have become extremely vocal about how she’s pro-genocide, she betrayed Palestine, we need to throw paint on her office and call her a murderer, and so on, because she voted one way on one doomed and stupid amendment introduced by MTG that tangentially would have impacted Israel.

That undoes, apparently, all her tireless work to try to get the US to stop funding Israel (to the point that Biden had to have a meeting at one point with her to yell at her and try to make her stop). Nope! That one amendment is the whole of the story. Job done, QED, she’s Israel now, and you should not vote for her. Fellow leftist.

True enough. Perfect is the enemy of good, but I understand the frustration.

What type of frustration is it that would lead someone to claim that an incredibly vocal pro-Palestine person is, in fact, a pro-genocide person and we need to not support her? Why would that make sense?

I was referring to the frustration brought on by the knowledge that many of the Democrats are awful.

Why would that lead understandably to accusing one of the rare ones who isn’t awful, who among her other positive qualities is vigorously pro-Palestinian, of supporting Israel’s genocide?

The fact that she’s a rare Democratic politician in the public eye who isn’t stained with blood and cash-residue should make it less understandable to criticize her, not more. Right? I’m still just having trouble making sense of what you’re saying.

A leftist who obeys the DNC is effectively a Neoliberal.

People will be hesitant to support her if she’s going to concede to a corrupt Neoliberal like Bernie did in 2016

Sure, makes sense. Why would any of that lead understandably to accusing her of being anti-Palestinian though?

Maybe I am misunderstanding what was said, but the fact that no one is saying “Oh of course we’re not saying that, that would be insane” is concerning to me

Because it’s unlikely we can pull ourselves out of this electorally. Love AOC, she’d be a good POTUS, but she can’t be that if there isn’t a US as a political body and I’m not convinced there will be in the near future
