Your Party has once again opened up to members again. The announcement follows a membership drive last week which was abandoned when members of the fledgling party made various accusations against one another.

There is an alternative to austerity, poverty and war.

We are that alternative. Let’s build it, together.

At the time of writing, Jeremy Corbyn has announced the latest membership drive on X/Twitter, but Zarah Sultana, Jamie Driscoll, and Andrew Feinstein have not.

The ‘official’ launch of Your Party

Noting that it’s ‘official’ in the subject line, the email drive reads:

Last Monday, we published a democratic roadmap for the foundation of Your Party, culminating in a historic founding conference in November.

Today, we’re delighted to announce the next steps in this process, starting with the opening of our official membership portal.

It states that “data and membership payments will be secure”, which is no doubt a reference to allegations made last week. The email also states:

Be assured that this is the official… membership portal, as promised in our roadmap endorsed by the Independent Alliance of MPs

Their role is to steward the founding of a democratic party that will belong to its members, to you – you will decide the name, make the key decisions and elect the leadership through one member, one vote.

This process will culminate in the most democratic, representative and inclusive conference this country has ever seen. We will bring together thousands of members – with tens of thousands more participating online – to establish a new kind of political party: one that belongs not to the rich and powerful, but to its members – to you.

In an attached video, Jeremy Corbyn says:

Coming together to found a party that will fight prejudice, campaign for peace, act against climate breakdown and deliver social justice. We’ve had some fraught days in the last weeks, as you will no doubt be very aware, and to be honest we’ve haven’t covered ourselves in glory.

But what is most important is this. We all agree about the plans for the conference and the roadmap to get to it. Before all the commotion last week, the plans themselves were warmly welcomed right across our movement.

People desperately want the chance for a real alternative – an alternative to poverty, to war, and injustice. So let’s get on with it. Today you can turn your support into real membership. Our official membership portal is now open.

Conference

The email shares further details about the upcoming conference:

Today we can share another exciting announcement with you: the founding conference will be held at Liverpool ACC on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 November.

A total of 13,000 members will debate and amend the party’s founding documents in person across two days, with 6,500 attending each day. To make this conference as representative as possible, attendees will be chosen by lottery, ensuring a fair balance of gender, region and background.

But whether you’re selected as a delegate or not, you’ll have the final say, with final votes and internal elections decided by all members through a secure, online one-member-one-vote system. To be involved, you first have to be a member.

Commentator Ash Sarkar highlighted several unanswered questions:

However, on YouTube the responses were somewhat more guarded – with many people highlighting there was no mention of Sultana again:

Yeah, I’m waiting to hear from Zarah before signing up. You’ve been oddly quiet on the subject, which makes me think that what she’s saying might have some merit.

And:

This really should have been launched joint with Zarah to address the concerns over fractures. I’ll hold off on joining until I know what’s happening on that front

So, as one person highlighted:

I love you guys but please when you next have a spat – do it privately – you’ve knocked our confidence. We need to learn and continue fighting the good fight for everyone.
