US President Donald Trump said during a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday 23 September that he was ready to lift restrictions on Kyiv’s use of long-range American weapons to strike targets on Russian territory.

Details: The WSJ stated that Zelenskyy had asked Trump to provide more long-range missiles and permission to use such weapons against targets in Russia.

Two sources said that Trump had replied that he was not against the idea. Meanwhile, they added that the US president had not made any specific commitments to lift the ban on such strikes.

The WSJ also stated that the Ukrainian delegation will travel to Washington next week for talks with US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.

As is known, Trump’s administration does not allow Ukraine to use US-supplied long-range missiles, in particular ATACMS, to strike Russia.
