Even this prick’s targeted victims open with ‘it’s so terrible he died like this,’ when, ehhh. He was a school shooting apologist who was shot at a school. He got done unto. You’re allowed to be neutral.
He never gave a shit about free speech or debate - he just yelled at people. He spat bigotry in a cocksure tone of voice, because that’s all conservatives think is real. That’s all they think you’re doing. When they publish shitlists of academics who’ve told right-wing teenagers they’re objectively incorrect, and parrot the language of discrimination and prejudice - it’s because they don’t know the difference. There is no such thing as “objectively incorrect,” in their worldview.
Reality is a team sport, to some people. Their stated ideals are ad-hoc justifications. All that has ever mattered is ingroup loyalty. There is no other force in their moral universe.
This tribalist mode is humanity’s default. Recognizing when people are stuck in it is even more important than addressing their specific terrible beliefs. No argument can work, until they are led to figure out, words mean things.
