    Near-peer at best.

    The US will continue to fall behind. And Europe cannot compete with central planning any better than the US can. Difference being as far as I know Europe isn’t led by a sundowning gameshow host with a Napoleon Complex. They have the choice to choose to advance instead of regress the way the US is.
