On September 20th 2025, tens of thousands mobilized for people, for peace, and for the planet in 70+ communities from coast to coast to coast across so-called Canada.

As Parliament resumed and Prime Minister Mark Carney prepared to introduce his fall budget, we took to the streets demanding the government pick a side: injustice, violence, war, and climate destruction—or a just and safe future for all of us.

We sent a clear message to the Carney government and demonstrated our refusal to stand by as our government and Canada’s richest corporations hoard wealth, gut our public services, fuel climate collapse, attack migrants, exploit Indigenous lands, and prop up a genocide in Palestine.

With coordinated actions in 70 cities, this mobilization was an unprecedented and historic coming together of 350+ climate justice, migrant justice, Indigenous justice, labour rights, anti-war, and Palestine solidarity groups. Communities held rallies, strikes, marches, and gatherings, organized by labour unions, Indigenous movements, migrant justice organizations, climate activists, seniors, and peace advocates.

The mobilizations coincided with the weekend of International Peace Day and were also part of a global week of action, with people taking to the streets in 96 countries, while world leaders convened at the United Nations General Assembly.

These mobilizations came days after Parliament returned to session, and ahead of the promised fall “austerity” budget. While people are struggling to put food on the table and pay rent, and communities are facing heatwaves and climate collapse, Carney has:

Rammed through Bill C-5 to fast-track destructive projects on Indigenous land without consent and appointed former Trans Mountain CEO to lead Major Projects OfficePromised 15% spending cuts over three years, affecting up to 57,000 public sector workers while announcing over $9 billion in immediate new military funding, and quadrupling Canada’s military budget by 2030Proposed Bill C-2 to cancel immigration permits en masse, restrict asylum claims, and expand warrantless surveillance on all CanadiansSlashed taxes for the wealthy while continuing subsidies for large corporationsDeclared Air Canada strike illegal within 24 hoursCapitulated to Trump by shelving Digital Services Tax and reportedly considering joining his “Golden Dome” missile defense programContinued to support Israel’s genocide in Gaza by selling weapons to Israel

KEY DEMANDS

**Put people over corporate profit. Fund our families and communities.****Refuse ongoing colonialism. Uphold Indigenous Sovereignty.****Stop blaming migrants. Demand full immigration status for all now!****End the war machine. Stand for justice and peace.**End the era of fossil fuels. Protect Mother Earth.

See detailed demands here.

They think that if they can overwhelm and divide us, we won’t resist. But climate justice, migrant justice, economic justice, Indigenous rights, and anti-war movements united to prove them wrong.

We demanded that Prime Minister Carney take action for a just and safe future for all of us.

This world is ours to build. This is our line to draw. We’re just getting started.
