The National has published a shocking story about how Labour right-wing coup-plotters now in charge of the party hired private investigators to try and smear people seeking to hold them to account. We already knew that Labour Together wanted information about journalist Paul Holden’s personal life, seeking “points of ‘leverage’ that could be used against him” and trying to “place stories in the media that would damage his reputation”.
Holden’s book The Fraud exposes how Morgan McSweeney and Keir Starmer seriously undermined British democracy via the shadowy Labour Together group.
Labour Together apparently tried to link Holden to a cyber hack of the Electoral Commission, via the Guardian and the Telegraph. Holden said:
I believe Labour Together was clearly trying to smear me in the national press… The whole thing smacked of desperation.
Labour Together: spying on Andrew Feinstein
However, we’ve now learned that the investigators also went after Andrew Feinstein, the independent left-wing candidate who took a massive chunk out of Starmer’s vote in the 2024 election. Feinstein stressed:
The lengths to which the organisation that catapulted Starmer to power was prepared to go to conceal their malfeasance and to investigate a political opponent and his associates, speaks to the undemocratic and authoritarian nature of the Starmer project
Investigators also mentioned the possibility of Russian links. But as Holden insisted:
Andrew and I have previously faced legal and extra-legal threats related to our investigations into Russian oligarchs linked to Putin… Anybody who knows anything about South African politics knows that president Jacob Zuma was closely allied with Putin, and that Andrew and I have been trying to get Zuma prosecuted for corruption for over a decade.
