Syafik Shukri bin Abdul Jalil is a broadcast journalist and news anchor with Astro AWANI, Malaysia’s leading and most trusted news channel. Born on 8 November 1990, Syafik is the youngest of six siblings and was raised by his mother following the passing of his father at an early age. His upbringing instilled in him resilience, determination, and a deep sense of purpose that continue to shape his career in journalism. With over eight years of professional experience, Syafik has covered major assignments across Afghanistan, Indonesia, the United States, Japan, and Laos. His reporting portfolio spans domestic and international politics, global affairs, sports, and human-interest stories, establishing him as a versatile and reliable journalist. In April 2024, he was part of the Break the Siege: Freedom Flotilla to Gaza mission. Although the mission was called off after nearly a week in Istanbul due to diplomatic and administrative challenges, the experience further deepened his commitment to humanitarian reporting.

Among his career milestones, Syafik was selected to cover the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September 2024, a testament to his credibility and professionalism in the field. Beyond the newsroom, he has also hosted numerous formal and informal events on behalf of Astro AWANI, showcasing his versatility as both a journalist and presenter.

Looking ahead, Syafik will be joining the Sumud Nusantara mission, a new initiative under the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), dedicated to breaking Israel’s blockade of Gaza and delivering essential humanitarian and medical aid to Palestinians enduring ongoing hardship.
