Who’s Who in Prices – PROFECO
Iván Escalante, head of the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (PROFECO), reported that Financiera para el Bienestar continues to be the best option for sending remittances, both through account deposits and wire transfers.
He also reported that the national average price of gasoline is 23.60 pesos (US$1.29) per liter.
Progress in the “Housing for Wellbeing” Program
Minister of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development Edna Vega announced that under the Housing for Wellbeing program there is currently land available for the construction of 900,000 homes.
Construction of nearly 400,000 homes will begin in 2025, while around 300,000 are already under development.
Benefits for INFONAVIT Loan Holders
It was reported that almost 1.42 million INFONAVIT beneficiaries have received reductions in interest rates, monthly payments, and loan balances—achieving rates as low as 4% with fixed monthly payments.
In addition, through the Social Justice Program for Credit Resolution and Settlement, 183,833 borrowers have benefited from loan settlements, interest forgiveness, adjustments, and reductions in their payment obligations.
Transparency in Housing Developments
Octavio Romero General Director of INFONAVIT announced that the housing agency has launched a webpage (infonavit.org.mx) to make the construction contracts of its housing developments available to the public.He also reported that new housing units will be delivered in 11 states across the country during October.
Key Pillars of the Economic Plan and Strategic Projects
President Claudia Sheinbaum outlined the main pillars of her administration’s economic plan and priority projects:
Strengthening infrastructure: passenger trains, highways, ports, airports, and water/sanitation projects. Energy and productive infrastructure projects. Plan México: boosting national production for both domestic and export markets. Creation of 15 Wellbeing Hubs Consolidation and strengthening of social wellbeing programs.
Progress in the National Health System
The President announced that registration for the National Health System will begin in January 2026.The goal is that by 2027, most illnesses can be treated at any public health institution—whether IMSS-Bienestar, ISSSTE, or IMSS.
Statements on the October 2 March
Sheinbaum denounced acts of provocation that took place during the October 2 march commemorating the repression of the 1968 student movement. She questioned the intentions of a group that participated while using ski masks to cover their faces, noting that such actions make no sense in a city that guarantees freedoms.
