Remember when the right wing vigilantes used to complain that the left is using cancel culture to destroy British culture? Yeah, well now they’ve decided that they need to cancel British culture — particularly the part which involves ‘flavour’:

I’ve never had curry or a kabab and don’t intend to.

British food is the best. English breakfasts, Sunday roasts, fish and chips, pies, pasties, scones.

Also, our national dish isn’t a chicken tikka masala – we only think that because a Labour MP said it decades ago to push…

Right wing Chipcels

Jess Gill is the founder and director of the Women’s Safety Initiative. In case there’s any confusion about what sort of British women she wants to protect, here she is telling a British woman of Asian descent she should be deported:

You hate Britain. You deserve to be deported. https://t.co/gtr6uya8Zw

It really helps if you read the tweet at the top in the voice of a somewhat stupid child, and the reason it helps is because:

You’d have to be a stupid child to think you could convince anyone you’ve never eaten curry in 21st century Britain.Only children construct sentences like ‘British food is the best’.

We don’t even disagree that ‘British food is the best’, but for anyone under 100 years old British food includes kebabs, curries, bhajis, and so much more.

Demonstrating that she’s clearly dishonest, Gill has already moved from ‘I’ve never eaten curry’ to ‘I prefer scones to kebabs’:

Apparently my most controversial take: I prefer British food over curry and kebabs pic.twitter.com/6Lx7Co4hil

At least one of her tweets is wrong, but it’s unclear which. We assume it’s the former, given that Gill is on record as saying she’d just as soon have pizza as Christmas dinner:

‘Your parents haven’t given you the right thing’

Gen Z are turning their back on the traditional Christmas dinner with 3 in 10 ready to replace traditional turkey with crispy fried chicken.

Jess Gill and Antony Worrall Thompson debate whether it is time to give Christmas dinner… pic.twitter.com/zSfnnyrnxH

— Good Morning Britain (@GMB) December 13, 2024

She claims to think ‘British food is the best’ but would happily replace Christmas dinner — the king of British meals — with baseline Italian cuisine?

Okay, Jess.

Gill has also accused those responding to her of being ‘snowflakes’:

I said what I said and I stand by it. You snowflakes are what’s wrong with this country! Political correctness gone mad!

— Jess Gill (@jessgill03) October 17, 2025

How are you gonna call anyone a snowflake when you’re afraid of a kebab? How are you gonna call anyone a snowflake when you’re afraid of markets?

Jess Gill, of course, is the weirdo who had a meltdown at the sight of an open air market in Birmingham. Not exactly the best and brightest. Also, something tells me this campaign isn’t targeted at young women so much as middle-aged white blokes. https://t.co/n0fz8T4z0O

Some people pointed out that the right is essentially now doing ‘woke’ but in reverse:

The right is going through their woke phase, pray for them. 🙏 https://t.co/cm6Ah3NHWF

Others said that right wingers are living the meme:

Right-wing grifters are becoming impossible to parody, they’re becoming the meme https://t.co/pQWAKC7PuS pic.twitter.com/JKo9WjL59F

Even Murdoch journalist David Aaronovitch has spotted how stupid Gill’s politics are:

I think Jess may just have parted company with the entire British working class https://t.co/IrnsVkeDTb

Going nowhere

This is the problem that the modern British right has. They want to do culture wars and hyper-nationalism, but there’s not much left to be patriotic about. This has essentially left them with two things to highlight as being quintessentially English, and that’s flags:

what the English St. George flag stands for, is the White NorthWestern European ethnic group ‘the English people’ It solely represents us, no matter of our political differences or who we pray to etc. Our flag represents us and us alone and nothing and no one else.

And breakfast:

I was joking this morning with my family that if Farage wins, full English breakfasts will be compulsory to demonstrate ‘British values’. https://t.co/uSgpeqPK7r

We’re not sure how much mileage they’re going to get when people’s living standards keep falling and future prospects keep drying up. The right can’t point to the obvious problem in society, which is widening wealth inequality, and so they point at their breakfast and ask ‘who remembers bacon?
