On Wednesday 5 November, journalist Paul Holden will host a not-to-miss launch event in London for his new groundbreaking exposé on the shady political shenanigans of the “ruthless project that brought Keir Starmer to power”. It is, of course, The Fraud.
The Fraud author Paul Holden invites readers to a launch in London
The Fraud invites readers on a whistlestop tour of the duplicitous underbelly of the nefarious think tank Labour Together. It lands squarely on the main cast of this sordid affair in the disturbing tomes of Labour right scandals’ past.
The book’s synopsis states in a nutshell how, through unpacking a series of never-before-seen Labour Party files, it:
Lays bare the intrigues, stratagems, and deceits that helped deliver Sir Keir Starmer to Downing Street.
Poring over the pages of Holden’s book is like jumping headfirst into the sleuthing-stacked paragraphs of a detective novel – only the characters are real people, now in prominent positions of power. As such, damning revelations about Starmer’s chief of staff, Morgan McSweeney, cabinet member Steve Reed, and other key figures put their political roles today into a new and perturbing light.
And indeed, McSweeney is a core focus of Holden’s meticulous take-down of the Labour right establishment. Crucially, it lays out how:
McSweeney’s clique often employed dirty tricks to undermine the left-wing Labour leadership of Jeremy Corbyn, fuelling a moral panic over antisemitism and establishing front groups that hobbled prominent independent media outlets in the name of fighting ‘misinformation’.
McSweeney then guided Starmer to the Labour leadership on a platform that Starmer, once in office, almost instantly betrayed. Having conquered the party on false pretences, McSweeney and his allies set about purging opponents, marginalising the membership, and dragging party policy to the right.
Now, Holden is inviting readers to join him and a distinguished panel to unpack all this and more.
An exciting line-up of panellists
The event is taking place at Conway Hall, home of the Ethical Society, on Red Lion Street in London.
There, Holden will crack open the story behind how:
The Labour Party was captured and transformed into a ruthless, authoritarian political project that is eroding your basic human rights, all while fattening the wallets of billionaires and maintaining support for Israeli war crimes.
Joining him are independent Holborn and St Pancras candidate Andrew Feinstein, former Labour and now independent candidate Faiza Shaheen, and journalist Richard Sanders. The event promises that together, they will:
Lay bare the sensational intrigues, stratagems, and deceits that helped deliver Sir Keir Starmer to Downing Street.
Each panellist has their own unique experiences and dealings with the Labour Together project.
Feinstein was – and is – an electoral force who posed a genuine threat to Starmer’s seat in parliament, and in turn, his chance at power. Little wonder then that Labour Together goons set their investigators on him – alongside Holden. It was Holden who revealed this shocking revelation in the lead-up to The Fraud’s publication.
Meanwhile, as part of Starmerite Labour’s purge of left-wing socialists, the party deselected her ahead of the 2024 General Election. Reportedly, this was mainly to do with her pro-Palestine position – and it’s a familiar story for many women of colour and left-wing people among the party. Holden’s book delves right into the concocted antisemitism crisis that key shadowy actors inflated to turf Jeremy Corbyn and his supporters out of power.
Finally, for Sanders, it won’t be his first Labour right-unmasking rodeo. He was the producer for the second film in Al Jazeera’s unflinching The Labour Files documentary series. Needless to say, he knows a thing or two about the right of the party’s murky history of left-wing sabotage.
With these four fronting the event, it is undoubtedly set to deliver on that promise to lay bare the Labour Together project unswervingly.
Destroy the Canary? We don’t think so.
You can read the first three chapters exclusively published by the Canary here. And you can nab yourself a copy of Holden’s gripping new book here.
It would be remiss not to acknowledge that the Canary has obvious skin in the game here. Back in 2020, then-Canary and now Declassified journalist John McEvoy unveiled the secretive internet campaign targeting the Canary. The Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) and the campaign known as Stop Funding Fake News (SFFN) tried to defund the Canary. And who else would be behind a repugnant crusade to wreck the income of hard-working independent left-wing journalists other than Zionist-funded think tank Labour Together?
In The Fraud, Holden pulls back the curtain on this despicable campaign. He unpacks how the likes of political operatives like CCDH CEO Imran Ahmed, Countdown presenter and CCDH supporter Rachel Riley, and Labour Together, behind the scenes, engaged in a vicious programme of smears designed to, as McSweeney himself ultimately put it:
Destroy the Canary, or the Canary destroys us
Obviously, the Canary is still going strong. We’re still here, continuing our work, holding the rich and powerful to account. We’re still here, but we’re still angry. It’s not to say Labour Together’s disgusting pet project didn’t do its damage. At the time, it hit the Canary’s ad revenue. This triggered a round of redundancies and a reduction in staff hours. What’s more, it’s patently clear that the campaign also tarnished the Canary’s reputation.
But it wasn’t just the Canary. In its crosshairs were numerous left-wing Labour members, candidates, and campaigners. And of course, Labour Together and its smear vehicles, other key targets: Jeremy Corbyn.
Holden’s new book sets the record straight on all of this. For the Canary’s two cents, Holden masterfully dismantles the baseless smears SFFN levelled against us. So yes, we’re still here, and McSweeney got one thing right:
Or the Canary destroys us
We’re still working on it.
The Fraud: a political exposé for our times
As the left begins to build towards the next election, Holden’s explosive exposé is an essential read. It will equip the next generation of grassroots activists with the knowledge of precisely how the cronyist career politicians leading the country got where they are now. And it’s validation for the many that Labour Together and its allies targeted during Corbyn’s leadership of the party.
If nothing else, you’re sure to come away from The Fraud with a renewed resolve to demolish the Tory tribute-act, tearing up the social fabric of UK communities far and wide.
