In an exclusive interview with the Kyiv Independent, Oleh Syniehubov, the governor of Kharkiv Oblast, shares the harsh realities of life under constant attack. Located on the border with Russia, Kharkiv Oblast has been under Russian bombardment since 2022, as Russian troops continue to occupy part of the region and attempt new advances. In a conversation with the Kyiv Independent’s Kollen Post, Syniehubov explains how Russia experiments with weapons and upgrades its war on civilians. He also describes how Kharkiv Oblast is adapting to this reality by building schools and hospitals underground, and discusses preparations for power outages ahead of what many say could be the most difficult winter for Ukraine’s energy system yet. Syniehubov also addresses reports of FPV (first-person view) drones reaching the city of Kharkiv.
