4 days agoHe’s pretending the money set aside for SNAP isn’t really legally set aside for SNAP and therefore the government doesn’t “have the authority” (like that’s stopped them in anything they want to do but legally can’t!) - doesn’t have the authority to use that money, so they’ve asked the courts to “resolve the differences” and tell them “what money they’re supposed to use”.
Essentially, it’s a delaying tactic, while they pressure Republicans to overturn the filibuster and pass the budget. Also, I fully expect them to appeal both rulings (in another delaying tactic), possibly all the way to the Supreme Court (who will inevitably find some way to allow him to do whatever the fuck he wants).
I don’t think he’ll be able to deliver on everything he wants to do, especially since the mainstream politicians and their owners will be determined that he can’t. But he’s one of the few politicians actually trying to improve things for the working class, and certainly one of the very few who are doing so in a positive, “let’s work together” manner.
