Pretty much the teacher caught the students throwing toilet paper over their tree but slipped and fell on the wet ground. The students, instead of helping the teacher, fled in cars and one of them ran over the teacher, killing them (The students did stop to give help and called emergency services).

The student that killed the teacher was charged with homicide but the teacher’s family wants the charges dropped stating that the teacher spent their lives teaching these children and don’t want to ruin their lives with severe criminal charges.

It looks like the teacher knew and liked the students and knew about the prank and was planning how to surprise them. They were a really cool teacher by the sounds of it and the school misses them.
