Some characters are more flexible than others.

Not only should Bond be true to the original books, I’d do the new movies as historicals set during the Cold War.

King Chuck shouldn’t get “On His Majesty’s Secret Service.”

I mean, a woman almost undoubtedly wouldn’t play James Bond…

Maybe Agent 007, but unless that was a Seal Team Six thing, it would make a lot more sense to just have it be a different 00#.

Still work in the same agency, interact with the same people, do the exact same type of shit. Just not have the code name James Bond.

I was curious and looked it up, Flemming named 5 different ones, including 0011, so they can clearly make as many as they want. Honestly pretty surprising they haven’t yet.

I don’t have any issue with a woman Bond, as a man.

I think if I were a woman, I’d be offended that Hollywood doesn’t have the willingness or capacity to invest in a woman-led IP. Women aren’t an afterthought. They shouldn’t be treated like they get subbed-in off the bench after the game is functionally already won to let the real stars hit the locker room early.

That’s how I IMAGINE I’d feel. No way of saying for sure because it’s impossible to truly divorce yourself from your lived experience.
